In this session we’ll cover the workflows built into SharePoint 2010 as well as how to build new and reuse workflows, the integration with Visio, and how to prototype workflows in SharePoint Designer for further development in Visual Studio 2010. Now the story is even better, so this session follows on the story. Access 2010 includes new performance improvement when connecting to SharePoint lists. In this session I’ll cover these as well as other improvements, such as, connecting to Business Connectivity Services (BCS) data and using Access Services. We’ll cover some basic PowerShell commands and then jump into showing how to do day to day administrating of SharePoint 2010 with PowerShell. Useful PowerShell and SharePoint 2010 links are:

If you’ve still using CTP3 of PowerShell 2.0, then you really need to use the RTM version which can be obtain from links on Microsoft KB968929 page, make sure you upgrade to the WinRM RTM version at the same time. (The RTM versions of PowerShell 2.0 and WinRM are automatically included in Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2.)

Read about PowerShell in the SharePoint 2010 Evaluation Guide.

SharePoint Evolution Conference

More information of the two session I’ll be presenting will be detailed on this blog nearer the date. Of course by April 2010, I’ll know much more about SharePoint 2010 than I do now and I’m really looking forward to this conference. It’s at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference centre, which is where the European SharePoint Best Practice 2009 conference was held. That conference was a sell-out and I expect that the Evolution conference will also sell out, so don’t leave it too late until your register.

How to find the version level of SharePoint

Back in May 2005 I started an article mapping SharePoint versions to service packs and hot fixes. Late last year, Mindsharp, who hosts my blog site, moved to another blog environment and therefore my old article has never had details of any updates since August 2008.

I have received several emails asking me to continue on with this list of updates to version numbers. Also Todd Klindt in several of his netcasts keep sending people my way. So I've created an article on my blog web site: "How to find the level of SharePoint you are running". I hope you enjoy and if you find any information to include in the article, then do let me know.

Speaking at SUGIE and Learning Gateway Conference

Cross post from: http://www.sharepointdesignerstepbystep.com/Blog/default.aspx.

With the new introduction of the Mindsharp blog server, I have decided to use my http://www.sharepointdesignerstepbystep.com/Blog/ web site as my primary blog site. I will be cross posting to this blog site as well. In the near future I will create a blog post with links to my blog posts on the old mindsharp blog server, that I still believe will be useful, as much for my own benefit as well as for others.
